O ano de 2013 foi alucinante, e está entre os melhores da minha vida, com certeza! Finalmente, pude realizar um pouco do meu sonho, surfar ondas internacionais, de classe 5 estrelas. 

Trabalhando como técnico de surf do Projeto Vida Surfe, iniciamos uma saga, proporcionada por 2 pessoas iluminadas, que encontraram no esporte a razão de suas vidas: Marcelo Palma e Tiago Vasconscelos.

Com sua experiência e perspicácia, eles desenvolveram um projeto, que já era o sonho de qualquer atleta profissional, ou seja, uma estrutura adequada para treinamento.

O Vida Surfe oferece um suporte multidisciplinar, com treinamento técnico, físico, nutricional e psicológico, além de aulas de inglês. 

4 atletas de Ubatuba, entre 14 e 18 anos, foram privilegiados com essas vagas, através de uma das escolhas mais difíceis que já fiz em minha vida. Com ajuda Divina, escolhi Tales Araujo, Philippe Chagas, Wesley Leite e Raul Reis.

Com esse time, conquistamos uma vaga para o Mundial Pro Junior, disputada em Lobitos, no Peru, em Julho/2013. Tales Araujo foi um guerreiro, e conquistou a 3ª colocação, entre os 64 melhores Pro Juniors da America Latina, mostrando o power de sua bonita linha de frontside. 

Raul acabou saindo do Projeto, por motivos pessoais, mas continua evoluindo, e vem conquistando excelentes resultados.

Fizemos uma viagem para as Ilhas Mentawai, em Setembro, para captação de imagem, e aprimoramento. Juntamente com o técnico carioca Pedro Robalinho, acompanhamos os atletas, com a missão de captar imagens para um filme e, claro, trabalhar a evolução deles em ondas rasas, com fundo de coral.

Lá, eu e Robalinho fizemos uma verdadeira clínica de surf, digna de filme de surf, onde os atletas mostraram nitidamente uma evolução nessa condição de onda. Nessa barca, tive a oportunidade de surfar picos de sonho, como E-bay, Kandui, BankVaults, entre outras, e ver de perto o quão perigosas e difíceis são as ondas 5 estrelas, ou seja, as de tubos com várias seções, ondas de filme!

Somos acostumados à surfar beach breaks, de ondas rápidas e múltiplos picos. Tanto no Peru, quanto na Indonésia, as ondas geralmente quebram sobre bancadas de pedra, ou coral, em um pico definido e, quase sempre, crowd, o que aumentam a dificuldade de adaptação.

Em 10 dias, analiso que realizamos um bom trabalho, e a evolução dos atletas se tornou realidade nos campeonatos de surf.

Em Novembro, o Vida Surfe disputou o Mundial Pro Junior, que rolou em Floripa, e que teve a vitória de Gabriel Medina. Tales fez um bom primeiro Round, sofrendo uma virada no final da bateria, caindo para a repescagem. Infelizmente, Tales enfrentou o vice-Campeão da Etapa, o Marroquino Ramzi Boukhiam, e acabou sofrendo uma derrota, após uma escolha errada de ondas na bateria.

Voltei com um gosto amargo na boca, sabia do potencial do Tales, mas a vida é assim, sempre há um aprendizado, e eu, com certeza tive o meu, e Tales o dele. 

O Projeto Vida Surfe continua em 2014, e vem com novidades, como o lançamento do filme do ano de 2013. 

Quando já estava em casa, em Ubatuba, vi que um swell iria proporcionar condições perfeitas para Maresias. Fui de moto, sózinho, e lá encontrei a galera de Ubatuba, que estavam no Guto. Fizemos uma seção pela manhã, com David Silva, Costinha e Tigú. Tinha 1,5 mts, com vento terral, daquele jeito, a galera pegou altas! 

Era uma sexta-feira, pré Paulista Pró, e já tinha vários atletas por lá, treinando, principalmente próximo ao palanque, que para a nossa alegria, estava mais ao meio da praia. 

A tarde, fui com Gabriel Adisaka e Carlos "Pokemóm" André, para o canto do Moreira. Tinha altas! O final de tarde estava com uma luz alucinante, e o fotógrafo Rafael Calsinski estava lá, registrando o free surf da galera. Além de Adisaka, estavam na água diversos tube riders, como, Gilmar Silva, Carlos Bahia, Sidney Guimarães, Italo Ferreira, entre outros, que formavam o crowd do show de  surf!

Eu já havia pegado uma onda, e voltava pro fundo, sem a prioridade, A galera foi se posicionar mais em outside, e eu, sem a prioridade, fiquei mais embaixo. Na primeira onda, veio alguém, e essa que eu peguei foi a segunda, que acabou correndo mais pra baixo, no meu colo. Eu estava um pouco atrasado, mas consegui segurar o drop, e encaixar na onda, um pouco embaixo do trilho, mas proporcionando esse mágico momento.

The year 2013 was astounding , and is among the best of my life , for sure! Finally , I realize some of my dreams , international surfing waves, class 5 stars .

Working as a technician Surfing Surf Life Project , began a saga, provided by 2 people lit , they found the reason in the sport of their lives : Marcelo Palma and James Vasconscelos .

With his experience and insight they developed a project that was already the dream of every professional athlete , or a suitable structure for training .

The Surf Life offers a multi-disciplinary support, with technical , physical, nutritional and psychological training, and English classes .

4 athletes Ubatuba , between 14 and 18, were privileged with these vacancies through one of the hardest choices I've ever made in my life . With divine help, chose Thales Araujo , Philippe Wounds Wesley Milk and Raul Reis .

We made a trip to the Mentawai Islands in September , for image capture and enhancement . Along with the technical Pedro Carioca Robalinho , follow the athletes with the mission to capture images for a film , and of course , working their evolution in shallow waves with coral bottom .

There, I did Robalinho and a true surf clinic , worthy of surf film, where athletes clearly showed an evolution in this condition wave . In this boat , I had the opportunity to surf surge dream, like E-bay , Kandui , Bankvaults , among others , and see firsthand how dangerous and difficult the waves are 5 stars , ie the pipe with multiple sections , waves movie !

We are accustomed to surfing beach breaks , and multiple peaks of fast waves. Both in Peru , as in Indonesia , the waves usually break on stone countertops , or coral in a defined peak and almost always crowd , which increases the difficulty of adaptation.

STALEFISH - PEIXE VELHO

O título do texto é a tradução do termo usado como título dessa manobra (foto).


Para quem não sabe, essa manobra é um Stalefish. Nesse dia, Filipe Toledo completou esse Stalefish reverse na base, durante uma bateria no 1ª Etapa USPU Qualifyng, que rolou na ultima quinta-feira, na Vermelhinha. 

Essa manobra consta no livro de manobras da ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals), como uma manobra de alto grau de dificuldade.

Filipinho, recebeu um high score 9,5 pontos nessa onda, porque além dessa manobra, ele havia acertado uma rasgada funcional com muita fluidez e pressão, chegando na junção com muita velocidade para a saída desse movimento radical executado com perfeição.

Não é a toa que Filipe é o atual 9º colocado no Ranking Mundial de Surf. 

Na minha opinião, Filipe é o atual melhor surfista do mundo em ondas até 0,5 metro para à direita. Os únicos que podem dar um pequeno "calorzinho" nele nessa condição de mar é o Gabriel Medina e o Kolohe Andino, mas vão ter que contar com muita sorte para derrotá-lo. 

Quero deixar claro que não estou menosprezando os outros surfistas, mas, estou apenas fazendo uma avaliação técnica do que venho observado no Circuito Mundial de Surf e, essa avaliação só vale se o mar estiver com até 0,5 metro para à direita. 

Quando o mar sobe, o chicote estrala, como pudemos observar em Bells, Jordy Smith mostrou que Filipe vai ter que colocar mais pressão em sua linha pra chegar junto. Filipe é muito novo e, acredito que com mais 2 anos ele já estará com mais peso, com mais força...aí meu amigo, eu quero ver quem vai segurar esse monxtrinho!!rs

Minha previsão: Filipe Toledo Campeão Mundial em 2015!! Duvida?

I want to make clear that I am not belittling the other surfers, but I'm just making an technique avaliation that I have been seen on the World Tour of Surfing, and this review only applies if the sea is up to 0.5 meters to the right.

When the waves is higher, as we have seen in Bells, Jordy Smith showed that Filipe will have to put more pressure on your line to get along. Filipe is very young, and i believe that with 2 more years he will be more weight with more strength ... then my friend, I want to see who will hold this monxter! haha

My prediction: Filipe Toledo World Champion in 2015! Doubt it?

BROCHI Surfboards - Inovação no Mercado

Essa prancha é mais uma inovação no mercado. Desenvolvida pelo Shaper Brochi, o material se assemelha ao Epoxi, mas não possui longarina no bloco, fazendo com que a prancha fique mais leve. Para compensar a falta de longarina, a laminação é feita de um material especial, contando com fios de carbono que garantem a resistência da prancha.
Essa prancha (foto) possui medidas convencionais 6'0 com 11" de bico e 13 e 3/4 de rabeta squash. Ela possui maior flutuabilidade do que a prancha de poliuretano, por isso as medidas de borda podem ser diminuídas em relação as pranchas do dia à dia.
Fiz o primeiro teste em ondas de 1 metro e séries maiores na Vermelha do Norte e arrisquei colocar pra dentro das fechadeiras e tentei alguns aéreos e no final a prancha se mostrou resistente, saindo intacta da água. Essa semana farei mais alguns testes em tipos de ondas diferentes e pretendo realizar um vídeo com as imagens obtidas para mostrar o resultado com mais detalhes.
Gostaria de agradecer ao Roni Brochi por acreditar no meu trabalho e me dar a oportunidade de ser um de seus pilotos de teste, juntamente com meu amigo Lucas Santin "Xexela".
